Sinds de zomer van 2020 ben ik ook begonnen met portretten (in opdracht). Ik heb daar voor een periode lang fictieve portretten geschilderd in grote formaten. Daarna heb ik een stijl ontwikkeld die bestaat uit heldere veelal transparante kleuren, veel contrast, veel wit en enorm contrast in verfgebruik waarin de omgeving bestaat uit dikke lagen latex en het portret helder en transparant met dunne verdunde verflagen wordt opgebouwd. Dit alles op een achtergrond van in latex opgedroogde vellen faxpapier. Dit resulteert in een heel eigen stijl. Omdat ik nu de stijl 'in de vingers' heb wilde ik ook meer uitdaging in de onderwerpkeuze en na een aantal zijwegen (stoelen, knijpers, uien) heb ik gekozen om portretten te gaan schilderen. Since the summer of 2020 I have also started doing portraits (commissioned). For a while I painted fictional portraits in large formats. After that I developed a style that consists of bright, often transparent colors, a lot of contrast, lots of whites and enormous contrasts in the use of paint in which the environment consists of thick layers of latex and the portrait is built up clear and transparent with thin thinned layers of paint. All this on a background of sheets of fax paper dried in latex. This results in a very unique style. Because I now have this creative style down to a T, I was also looking for more challenges regarding the choice of subjects and after a number of side tracks (chairs, pegs, onions) I chose to paint portraits.
